Bored, I'm the chariman of the board

It's been a slow day at work which isn't a bad thing in itself. It gave me the chance to catch up on some stuff that needed doing at work which I've been putting off (and now I remember why).

Yesterday one of the pipes above my desk burst and dumped a couple of gallons of some coolant they use in the AC over my area. I'm beginning to get the feeling the Leroy construction company may have been used on this building. Either that or it's a plot to knock off a few employees.

I'm going to try finish writing 'Ghouls Parade' tonight. I've been dinking around with it for a couple of weeks and I think it's high time to get it done with.

I've got a guilty pleasure to confess which is the VH1 program Bands Reunited which puts together old bands for a one time show. They had Extreme on last night. I was never a fan of their or even really liked them but it was fun watching Nuno Bettencourt proving once and for all he's a jackass. I always had a suspicion.

Cut off in my prime

Hi Rose

So the studio went pretty well on Saturday. When we got there Roland told us he only had until four pm due to the fact his buddy was back from Iraq (nice of him to tell us in advance). As it was we managed to record the music to all 9 song and a couple of vocal takes.

Of course it went down as you could have guessed. It took us 2 hours to record the first song and 2 hours to record the other 8. I saw Steely Dan's guitarist once saying during the 70's it took him 3 weeks to find a comfortable chair in the studio. I can relate once I found a chair (I kicked Liz of the one she was sitting on, gentleman that I am) I made far less mistakes. Apparently standing up takes a lot of my cognitive bandwidth.

Jeff was doing his best George Martin impression "Is that too far off the beat" "I think we have a better performance in us". I had to keep reminding him that we only had 3 - 4 hours to lay the backing tracks and to stop being so bloody picky.

I’m also enjoying watching my Stingray bass on e-bay. It’s up to about $700 now so hopefully I can put a large stash of sweaty cash in Jeff’s palm soon to pay off my Ampeg head. What also helps is I’m getting 2 bonuses from work. One of them helped offset the reaming I took at Firestone on Friday getting my car serviced. Well at least it didn’t come back broken I guess.

The rest of the weekend was pretty quite as we went out to dinner and for a walk around the mall but I still enjoyed it. I'm trying to make plans to get a new job this year. Call it a 1/3 life crisis but if I'm doing this job at 40 I may have to kill myself.

Nameless

So my new project is making futher progress towards a several million dollar record deal with Sony. Well we're not really but I'm still enjoying myself. We'll be recording at Roland's place this weekend so I should be able to start inflicting some of my sounds on people soon.

Snow, snow go away

I couldn't make it to work today due to the high volume of snow. I felt pretty ill when I woke up either way so I don't feel too bad. Of course tomorrow could be just as much of a laugh riot when it all turns to slush.

My boss is such an ass-kisser. He's probably the only person in the plant today like a lone weeble bouncing around the weeble castle by himself. He keeps sending e-mails to people offering to deliver material to them. The fact that nobody is in so once he delivers it they couldn't do anything with it until tomorrow seems to keep escaping him.

New Years Eve was pretty quiet but pleasant. J and M came around for Trivial Pursuit and a few drinks. Unfortunatly two days later two of J's relatives died in kind of a hideous and pointless way. He seems to be handling it ok so I guess that's all you can ask for.
