Unga bunga
Well surprise, surprise. Rehearsal got moved to Tuesday again. It seems to happen every week. I’d move it to Tuesday regularly but then we’d only end up moving it to Wednesday and I get nose bleeds really easily.
Rose and I went to Grand Central Casino in Lakewood, there must have been some kind of fat internet chatters meat market going on. I was worried if I stood up to go to the bathroom I was going to get smacked over the head and dragged to some cave to be part of a fat Internet chatters harem. It reminded me of the Lewis Black sketch where he talks about IHOP, there’s always guaranteed to be someone there who weighs at least 300lbs more than you. I would definitely recommend chat parties to anyone with self esteem/body image issues.
Rose and I gearing up to decorate her bathroom. It’s part of the slow drive to make our house look nice. I lay in bed and think of all the cool things I could do with the place if I had the money. Especially the front room is dieing to have some walls done it accent colors. It will really pop. No excuse me while I reattach my penis and start acting like a man again.
I had another nose bleed conversation with Jeff on Friday. I over heard him talking with a friend of his about getting our CD remixed in pro-tools. When I inquired if he was going to pay him he looked at me and said “I was expecting the rest of the band to chip in”. When I explained I didn’t really want to shell the cash out to fix a recording which wasn’t great to start with (plus the things I want to fix are different from those he does) he said “You’ll only fritter the money away”. I had to remind him that was himself he was thinking of not me.spoke Rob at at 1.45pm | permalink | 0 comments

Boom, boom boom
I had an unexpected detour this morning. Rose overslept and after an hour of leaving frantic messages (including using a sample of a doorbell and banging my desk to set Nugget off), I drove home to check on my lady love. Of course 10 minutes from home I drove past her or another steamed looking red head driving her car, going the opposite way, so apparently she woke up.
Modern Union's gig went OK this weekend. There were a few places that there were rust spots and Liz was too scared to talk to the crowd (crowd hah, hah, 10 drunk rednecks does not equal a crowd), but other then that it was fun and we got compliments from people who weren't with our band or any others.
I keep getting the overwhelming feeling that 'Casual Rebel' either needs to be rewritten or dropped as it seems like a set low point, especially the verse. It'll probably only ever be filler but it could be improved..
I was just checking out a Chrysler Crossfire in the parking lot. It's a pretty groovy looking car I have to admit.spoke Rob at at 12.45pm | permalink | 0 comments

On the road again
So Modern Union got offered a last minute gig this weekend. We're counting it as pre-debut show, as in were not going to promote it as it’s in a small hole in the wall club in Bremerton. PW played there and I recall it being a dive, but then again 90% of the places I play are so that shouldn't be a huge surprise.
Rose is off sick so I hope she'll feel a little better today. I sometimes forget she's been in pain for 3 years + without reprieve. By now I'd be walking around like a pariah asking if anyone had seen my purple goat.
I'm still reading the Bourne Identity. It's good if a little violent but no worse then Tom Clancy.spoke Rob at at 12.45pm | permalink | 0 comments

The peasants are revolting
Acckk. I have a cold. I woke up this morning and couldn't talk for a few minutes. Oliver took full advantage of this with his shall I go outside or just pee on the lino routine, whilst I'm croaking 'Go outside, go outside'. A well placed boot on an apple round backside dealt with the issue.
I was off work on Tuesday and on Wednesday I only had to work half day, the other being fed free food and playing golf in the sun. I could get used to this executive lifestyle. My back and shoulders are pretty sore today which attribute to swinging the golf club so much. It may not look a hard sport but when you're beating a golf ball 250ft down the fairway with a five wood it requires some hard hitting.
I'm borrowing the Stones Album 'Beggars Banquet' from John at work. I could get used to it.
I'm going to see if Colin can sell my old Bass amp. I've been waiting nearly 3 months and guitar maniacs seems intent not to shift it, so I'll take Colin's 10% commission on eBay as opposed to GM's 25% no sell.spoke Rob at at 12.30pm | permalink | 0 comments

Friday Five
Rose has indicated I should do the Friday five. As the biblical type weather is keeping me from walking here we go:
What was...
1. ...your first grade teacher's name?
I'll have to UK'ise this. My first teacher at 4 was Mrs Goodman. She was nice that's about all I can remember.
2. ...your favo-rite Saturday morning cartoon?
I think I used to watch a lot of the late 70's early 80's Japanese cartoons during the week. I used to watch Saturday Morning Swap Shop which had cartoons, music, interviews etc.
3. ...the name of your very first best friend?
At what age?
When I was 4 - 10 it was Silvano who was an Italian kid who used to have occasional temper tantrums and try to pull my ears off.
From about 11 to about 15 it was Kaustav who was a deeply geeky Indian guy who I used to play Dungeons and Dragons with.
From 15 to about 18 it was Dean (we're still friends sort of, I have some big issues with him) which is where I got into rock music and drinking. A lot of debauched fun.
18 to 21 was Stephen "Yank" Anderson, Pedro Armendarez and Barrie Miles. They were without doubt the best friends I had ever known up to that point. When Rose and I got together Pedro paid for a room which he didn't use so that Rose could sleep somewhere. He is without doubt the finest person I have probably ever known.
Now of course it's Rose. Jeff and Terry are my other non-married to best friends (perhaps I should set them up together, nah Terry could do much better then that).
4. ...your favorite breakfast cereal?
I can't remember. Wheatabix? Beer from 16 onwards (just kidding I was a cider drinker)
5. ...your favorite thing to do after school?
Best I can remember sit on my ass watching TV, playing with Lego’s. When I got to about 16 I hung around with people like Dean, Crispian and Narvin and got plowed.
I’m trying to set up and initial gig for my band soon. Finding the right venue after not playing for about 5 months is a little troubling but I’m trying to get back on the horse. To add further issues Jeff is having surgery for Carpal Tunnel early April so we’re trying to get a gig booked ahead of that.spoke Rob at at 12.30pm | permalink | 0 comments

March Hair
So this is March, so far I'm unimpressed. It's like February except a little more warm.
I saw something on the news last night that made me chuckle. They had a sting operation where internet pedophiles were video taped knocking on the door of a house where the anti-pedophile group was hidden. Seeing the people trying to make excuses when they had the web logs to show their activity was most amusing. I half expected them to bend over the 300lbs bearded techies "well I've come this far etc".
I wrote a song about Nugget on Saturday called ‘Little Obsessive’. I swear if you forget it's about the dog it could be about me, well they say owners look like their dogs, maybe we start to act like them to. Who am I kidding I've always been neurotic.
I think I may write a song about Oliver, I'll just clang the lowest string on my bass and snore into the mike for about 23 hours. I could write one about Rose to but it would involve me slamming myself in the head with my guitar for a few minutes (only kidding).
Rose set me up by own nation on the internet. Welcome to the Theocracy of Robslavia, a fun loving place where father knows best. Kind of like the Taliban wearing tie dye.spoke Rob at at 1.45pm | permalink | 0 comments
