A day in the life

I just called up Loomis (ex PW lead singer currently working with my band doing cover tunes), and his step son picked up the phone and handed it to him without saying I was on the line. I ended up doing my impression of David Attenborough and listening to a day in the life of the Loomis clan. I’m sad to say it wasn’t as interesting as I’d hoped, no exclamations of ‘Hey yawl watch this’ followed by loud bangs or the such. I hung up after about 2 minutes when it wasn’t getting any better. It would be nice if it was like the TV where I could switch channels and listen to somebody else. I get the feeling if I got Playboy (Hugh Heffner) phone it wouldn’t be as interesting as people think. Old ‘Heff’ purveys the image of being this randy old man still having his way with young blonds but I bet if you eavesdropped you’d hear the ‘bunnies’ administering his suppositories and brushing his false teeth.

Rose and I bought a 750 piece jigsaw puzzle this weekend. After Oliver chewed up a piece that fell on the floor thus leaving a big hole in it anyway, Rose and I found ourselves losing steam after the interesting bit was finished. Now we have this half finished puzzle taking up the kitchen table until one of us admits defeat and puts it away.

Question: Why is it people never take the subtle hint and shut up?

Class is in session

So Mary Kay Letourneau is out again. It amazes me that the boy she doinked is still really hot for her. Of course he’s no prize either.
They were talking on the radio this morning that some people have a double standard when it came to MKL. If it had been a man in her position he’d be hung, drawn and quartered but some people talked about it as ‘the love that couldn’t be’, because it was a woman. Personally I just think it was icky, but I’m sure if I’d have been in the boys position in school, my life between 12 and 17 would have a lot more interesting.

I can’t claim to any MKL type activities but when I was 17 my English teacher Mrs. Farris played footsy with me under the table. Being honest at the time it was probably the closest I’d ever been to a woman so it has to be noteworthy for that reason.

I took Oliver to the vet yesterday due to his face being badly swollen on Monday night. By the time I got home it looked pretty normal but either way the vet relieved me of about $100 once I left for medicines

Be careful what you wish for…

So finally at work my boss has told me he wants me to be dedicating as much of my day to training in the lab as possible. Now this is good news in the sense it will give me more rewarding work to do, but on the flip side it adds a lot of work without taking any off and the guy whose training me techniques seem a little hap-hazard.

The world is a crazy place. My band was meant to rehearse Friday but at 6.30pm Bob cancelled. He was meant to call Liz, our lead singer, but apparently couldn’t get through. She spent an hour waiting and called him on her return, though apparently she seemed intent on blaming me and Jeff despite the fact it wasn’t our fault. At least we have a gig coming up at the Lakepointe in Kenmore which will at least be a different dive to play in.

Rose and I spent our weekend having either deep conversations, yelling at each other or getting the dogs washed, after such emotional outpouring you need clean hounds. Poor little Nugget got his nails trimmed yesterday which is hard when your trying to clamp down a squirming dog with one hand and clip with the other. If he doesn’t watch out he’ll end up being known as “lefty”.
