Is that a monkey under your hat or are you just pleased to see me?
After I discovered Pie has started blogging again, it’s time for me to start putting the Rob out there again (sorry Pie accidental case of referring to myself in the third person).
So since my last entry my band has tried quite a few singers, and after them either flaking out or being blackballed by various members we managed to end up back with Loomis so we essentially have a fully fledged Painted Window reunion. This is technically the original core members not including Jim who was the other guitarist, but I have enough head cases to deal with already.
So far it’s been going as well as could be expected and we’re beginning to get some forward momentum in the song writing. Part of the trick is people not allowing themselves to get wound up by others about small things and be open to criticism.
It amazes me watching the Presidential primaries, especially the GOP contenders, the supporters buy half the crap that the candidates say. I was kind if hopeful when Rudy Giuliani started running that he would be a return to Regan era fiscal rather than social conservatism. Sadly he’s running on an I was the Mayor or NY during 9/11 platform (or in other words no platform). I think Romney is a pillock and Fred Thompson just strikes me a bloated good old boy who would say whatever it was to the conservative base to get elected.
It’s for that reason that the thought of a Clinton/Obama ticket winning really tickles me, having a woman and a black man running the country really would send all the good old boys crying into their beers with everything they fear running the country.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, politics in the country is a game show with cheesy presenters.
Pie and I are considering moving our adoption into the Chinese Special Needs/Waiting Child program. The adoptions continue to slow down and we’re just as happy to get a kid who has a minor defect which we can get fixed (or not even bother, by Chinese standards I’m considered Special Needs).
We’ve had a couple of nice mini-vacations this year. We stayed at Hotel Max in Seattle after going to the NIN – Year Zero listening party, the Paramount Hotel in OR in May and late July The Benson (also in OR). We’re going to Hawaii in September to see NIN again and catch some rays.
