There's a fat guy on the roof and he means business
Happy belated X-mas to all and I hope your new year doesn't stink too bad.
X-mas was pretty quite but I did get to indulge on some of Rose's excellent cooking. She doesn't cook very often typically but it well worth the wait.
I seem to have had a writing rainstorm recently as the last 2 -3 songs I wrote Jeff and co. seem to have really liked. Of course I've hit a wall recently and can't seem to think of anything new, so I now feel like a hollow shell of a man. But seriously SP or whatever we end up being called seems to be doing really well and the material is all coming together now. Roland appears to be avoiding me so we may need to find somewhere else to record but that's the breaks.
Loomis was meant to come to see SP last night but he called my house 20 minutes after rehearsal started so suffice to say we missed each other. What a himbo!
I was kind of flattered Jeff C was talking about the song 'Room full of empty people' I wrote and said how he liked the decadent imagery of the whole thing. I explained to him that I imagined a party with all these Hollywood types and models standing around gassing to each other but none actually saying anything worthwhile and trying to hide behind their images.
Rose and I are having a New Years get together so I'll be in full anally retentive table fairy mode for the next couple of days.spoke Rob at at 8.55am | permalink | 0 comments

Tub thumping
Rose's birthday is tomorrow. We decided to start irritating our neighbors more (Nugget's incessant barking isn't enough) so we bought a drum kit. However as I'm a nice person I bought rubber sound off pads for it so Rose can play it whenever she wants. It made me glad to buy her a present I thought she would really like. I always worry she is just making polite noises.
I finally caved in this weekend and bought a DVD player. I've been in denial for about a year saying that VHS would make a comeback but finally admitted that wasn't going to happen. I've got to admit it's a lot of fun as I have the thing hooked to my stereo which gives a better sound then the goofy little speakers in the TV. We rented the film "Identity" which I thought was excellent. It had more twists and turns then Bill Clintons impeachment defense.
I had to get up at about 5am to take Rose for an MRI today. When I was sitting in the waiting room an old English couple came in speaking to the nurse. I enjoyed listening to their conversation and thinking to myself ‘I don't sound that dull do I’? But then again, I rarely have conversations about the lack of mushy peas in the US so probably not. I didn't introduce myself as the conversation would have gone like:
"I'm English"
"So am I"
"Well it's been nice meeting you"
It looks like Liz is going to join SP which should be interesting as I've never worked with a female vocalist before. spoke Rob at at 12.00pm | permalink | 0 comments

On this earth were born here to die
Sorry I just turned 30 so I'm feeling morbid.
Rose got me some great gifts for my Birthday. One of them was a Gameboy SP. When I opened it I was non-plussed but after I picked it up I haven't stopped playing it. Now I kill and maim in a portable format.
One of the problems with having a week off is I end up spending way more money then I should between eating out and what not. Rose and I ate out twice last week which I feel pretty remorseful for.
Still looking for a lead singer for SPr. It's hard to find vocalists around here who don't want to do the cookie monster thing. Jeff C and I have begun writing lyrics which I am finding an enjoyable if occasionally frustrating outlet.
We pretty much finished decorating Rose's room this weekend which put a nice dent in our saving but the room does look very nice for our trouble.
Back to work today. Every minute that passes Dilbert begins to make a bit more sense.spoke Rob at at 12.30pm | permalink | 0 comments
